Striving to make children’s learning fun
At Kimpton Primary School we endeavour to make our curriculum as interesting and enjoyable as possible for the children. We are very creative in all our ways of supporting the children’s learning, to ensure the best possible success and the most enjoyable way for us to learn together!
We teach all National Curriculum subjects as required by the current National Curriculum. English and mathematics are planned with regard to the Primary Frameworks but teachers use their professional judgement to adapt to the needs of their classes.
To find out about the requirements of the current National Curriculum, please click on this link: www.education.gov.uk/schools/teachingandlearning/curriculum/primary
To keep subjects interesting and relevant to the children we adopt a topic based approach, incorporating all of the learning objectives and programmes of study required across each key stage.
Currently this is organised as a two year rolling programme across Key Stage One and a four year rolling programme across Key Stage Two. Reception and Nursery follow the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
To see each subject area in more detail over each key stage, please see the relevant curriculum page below:
Topic maps are sent home termly to inform parents about what is to be taught, how it fits into the longer term plan and to give ideas for additional support at home. Please see below for our topic maps. These links will show you the information that is sent home termly.
