Kimpton Primary School

Achieving today; ready for tomorrow.

Governors

The Governing Board at Kimpton Primary School are passionate about delivering our school vision: 'students are safe and happy, inspired by a love of learning, achieving today and ready for tomorrow'.  We work with the school setting the strategic direction, vision and ethos.  We oversee the financial performance of the school and, as a critical friend, we hold the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its students.

Governor Communications

Each term the Co-Chairs of Governors send a communication home to parents and carers.  This neatly reflects the board's perspective on the school's developmental journey; summaring the key successes of the term whilst also sharing any specific activities that have taken place over the term.  Please find below the communications for the last three terms:

Board Structure

The school Governing Board consists of two parent governors, one staff governor, the headteacher, seven co-opted governors and a local authority governor. To maximise our effectiveness we have two co-chairs and organise ourselves into two main committees and several specialist working groups. You can see our structure here:

Governor Code of Conduct

All of our governors are inducted into the FGB and are allocated a mentor to support them as they settle into the role.  All of our governors, just like our staff, follow a Code of Conduct.  This is reviewed annually and updated as appropriate.

Record of Attendance

We are committed group of unpaid volunteers. Alongside undertaking specialist tasks as part of a working group and visiting the school once a term, each governor also strives to attend committee meetings and six full governing body meetings a year. You can see our latest Record of Attendance here:

Records of meetings and speaking to your Governors:

      • Copies of previous approved minutes of our meetings can be obtained on request by contacting the school office.
      • If you would like to speak to any of the Governors, please feel free to approach us at school events, or contact the school office.  Please visit the Governor page of the School Team tab on the website.

Would you be interested in becoming a Governor?

Please also contact the school office and one of our Co-Chairs will be in contact to discuss any vacancies and what set of skills you would be able to bring to the Governing Body team.
