Design Technology

DT is an excellent subject to build in cross curricular links that use skills from other subjects. Children will understand that Design Technology is about designing and making a finished product fit for purpose.  

Skills will be taught in a sequenced approach that builds on the previous lessons: prototypes will enable resilience in trial and error, with problem solving and work that related to real life scenarios, making this subject both relatable and valuable to the children’s lives. Children are taught in engaging ways, using a range of tools to allow them to manipulate a variety of materials.  

Evaluation is a key component that should happen before designing, and again after the final product has been made, to discover what they learn and celebrate their achievements.
